Mother Mary Please Help Me (Freedom Fighter Series)

The breastplate was created by combining hand building and press molding techniques. The clay was stretched and pulled to encourage fault lines giving an “other worldly” appearance. Manganese oxide wash highlights armor details and battle scars. Clear glaze is used sparingly.

Madonna and child take center stage, both with lustered halos. Mary is masked and rendered voiceless. Lustered angel wings and thorns point toward a need for protection. This is a female-focused battle. The bears, flanking the Madonna, allude to a fierce fight.

Today, women are wading through the deepest of unchartered waters having lost their right to make decisions over their reproductive selves. Now is the time to strap on the protective armor and take a seat at the Round Table.
