What Women Endure: Bridled Women, Chambers, Elsie's Arsenal
With a penchant for shedding light on dark objects, Bridled Women, Chambers and Elsie’s Arsenal are three bodies of work that examine terrible things that happen to women. The sculptures speak to my interest in exploring the lurid side of human nature and what’s left behind after bad things happen. How did medieval women survive being bridled like wild animals? How do female refugees survive after being raped or forced into sexual slavery? How do mothers and children endure years of domestic violence?
